Activities You Will Do
Earthworkers never stand on the sidelines – they pitch in and get their hands dirty come rain or shine!
Activities at Earthworks include (amongst many other things):
growing fruit and vegetables, general gardening, mowing, strimming, numerous country crafts, woodwork, bonfires, basic construction, chopping fire wood and kindling, making deliveries, selling produce, and habitat management.
At Earthworks we all work and learn together. Every earthworker is instrumental in keeping our site beautiful and productive
Earthworkers play a vital role in maintaining our beautiful ornamental gardens, cultivating the fruit and vegetables in our market garden and allotments, selling to the public and building habitats around our ponds, meadow and woodland. Whether you plant a single onion seed or paint a whole fence panel during the day your contribution makes a difference here.
In the Community
We all play an active role within our local community
Earthworkers might be delivering produce and things that they have made to local people and businesses, attending events to represent Earthworks, manning stalls at events, presenting talks about Earthworks to community groups, and sometimes even appearing on local radio. Our earthworkers have a voice that is respected and appreciated in the wider community.
At the Markets
Earthworks has a regular presence at the lively monthly St. Albans Farmers Market in the town centre.
Markets are held on the second Sunday of each month from 9am – 1pm. Our stall is manned by volunteers and by earthworkers, who gain valuable work experience and contact with the general public, enjoying the process thoroughly. Both volunteers and earthworkers are always happy to talk to visitors at the market, to answer questions and hand out leaflets, we hope to see you there!
