3 March 2014
We’ve had a wet winter this year at Earthworks, however the rain has not dampened our spirits! We had a very successful December farmer’s market where we sold our handmade wooden reindeer, Christmas wreaths, Christmas cards, bug boxes, bird boxes and a range of fresh produce grown and harvested by our team. Thank you to everyone who turned out to man the stall, and thank you to all who paid us a visit.
We rounded 2013 off with a Christmas party in our new site building, which the builders made safe and vacated for us for the day! We all had a good old boogie and feasted on party food and Paul Oliver’s mulled fruit punch! All trainees and volunteers were awarded with a certificate in recognition of their achievements throughout the year, as well as receiving an Earthworks beanie hat as a special Christmas present.
2014 has been wet but mild and we have cracked on with a range of site development and maintenance jobs, as well as producing crafts, sawing firewood and tending to our winter veg. Our team have worked hard preparing the beds for spring, digging and spreading our own compost to replace the nutrients the soil will have lost through leaching in all of this rain! With winter pretty much behind us, fingers crossed for a successful and productive Spring!
